Hectic.

Mission: become superhuman. Master map info by friday, finish 2 reports in one week, study statistics before saturday test, and many other things. I've been moody lately. I don't know why. Or maybe i do. maybe its because of the things i have to do. haha.


I miss them so much. especially her: Hoai! She's from Viet nam and she's the first person i talked to during the workshop. She taught me a lot about vietnam language. And we share heart to heart stories at night before we sleep in KBFSC Ulu Belalong.

Yeah that is how it looks like in Belalong field studies centre. I somehow told her that life there for 5 days,was like vacation in resort. Listening to the sound of river flow every morning and music from insects every night. A bliss it was!

right is Somony from Cambodia. I miss her so much too. She was sitting beside me during the whole lectures.

And i miss them all. Ulu belalong was definitely a bliss. I miss staying there with them. They were my beautiful memories in Kbfsc.

And Hoai and the person in blue black is Chao Han from China!! I miss saying xin chao to hoai and thiet every morning

And Asuka. They say we look like sisters with the teeth and the glasses (she wore glasses too you know)

And marian! and Fikriyah and asuka! I don't know when i'll be able to meet them again. Everytime i go to chancellor hall, i'll definitely remember them. This was during the closing ceremony at Bridex hall. I remembered we just went back from Temburong that afternoon, went to rehearsal straight away! And Princess Sarah talked to Marian haha iski tarus si Marian.

I'm not saying life now isn't fun, there will always be fun when you're with your friends. I just miss our moments in Asem.

Where there is biology, there will definitely be fun. With Tobi the frog (names after Tobias Menig, the ASEM poarticipant from German who will be in Brunei again to study on Frogs)

And then aku kena naikkan pangkat jadi mummy and daddy with Edi oleh the bioscience. Start of our BEJAUR, hahaha this was in Tutong, a random jalan2 with them after class on FRIDAY! (yes, we have class on friday too unfortunately)

And finally our fieldtrip to Pulau Bedukang yesterday On a friday again! we went to UBD at 4.45 AM. I knoww. But we have to catch the low tide to do our field work. My group was Dr C's group. we studied the vertical distribution of fauna within a 100 x 25 m transect. It was divided into four quadrates and each quadrates has 3 people and my quadrate recorded data of around 104 animals (within that 2 hours) Like i slept straight away after lab work that night.

It was't at all that bad. It was definitely fun.

Especially when you have to walk into the water to get to the boat. Haha

I had fun despite the hectic. Now its reports time =( That's the pain. I just miss seeing the Asem participants.

We all need to whine sometimes, but not all the time.

Its saturday! and finally.. the last (but perhaps the most challeging of the week) practical on genetics. I slept early (tertidur) and woke up very early and in a few more hours i'll be in the lab again. Wow. these 4 practicals a week has really made me feel like a biology student. Before that, our first practical, on tuesday, was on plant phylogeny: identifying and observing roots, stems and leaves. We finished around 6pm- biasa the usual group yang always finishes the last. We went to MOD, Jerudong, for a bit to eat and tease peifen =p. Thanks peifen for the treat. After that, we went back to UBD for Chak's talk about his 2 months bio fieldtrip organised by harvard kah. That day was the highlight of the week, we have Ummi who overslept missing our animal phylo class, Pandi left his car keys at ummi's car that i had to send him back to his house. hahah cali la.

On wednesday, we attended a seminar on field studies done by our already 4th year students. I like the ants part. I told you, i enjoy studying about invertebrates. It was supposedly a-must-attend seminar but most of us didn't. I MISSED KCC registration. Sheesh. But i did went to IM that afternoon to blurt out ideas on green project.

Next practical was last thursday. We had animal phylo in the morning until 12noon. Then, we had algebra at 12 noon until 2pm and another practical on Biochemistry from 2pm till 6. (yeah biasa the usual group yang slalu lambat buat practical stayed late) No breaks in between. Honestly, i am not satisfied with the practicals i've done so far. I am still slow. And i can't really identify as fast as si M. banar i hate feeling like this. I need to process slowly, then only i can get it. And i am not satisfied that i didn't get to see euglena's movement. Awu i am upset a bit due to that fact but nvm. I slept that thursday with the outfit i wore. I sleep when i am upset haha. Tertidur. Tired jua.

Its saturday and we have genetics in a few more hours. I just read the schedule. i never really do but after a few practicals and slowly processing, i decided its such not a good thing to not read the night before. Its actually quite a simple practical, all we have to do is to prepare a slide of allium cepa meristem and record about mitosis from the slides WE prepared and observe meiosis from the prepared slides. However, thats the thing WE have to prepare it and its such a detailed work that we have to be careful about everything, even the temperature and the timing. i feel that i am not as careful. I have never been careful or fast in practicals. Our slides and observation will be marked by the end of the practical too. That's what frightens me. Huhuh. I hope it'll go well. AWU you see, i really do feel like a biology student now.

I hope i can catch lunch date with Kbuncits at Aminah arif later. Miss those Stpri 5B.

field ecology 1 was FUN

imagine waking up at 5+, taking a quick shower, pass by the padi fields before going to Patoi and do our field practicals. Exhausting but i had so much fun. (and i find that invertebrates are SO cute =p especially when you get the hang of how to identify them)

There is no internet at home so yeah. And i got a fever and batuk and sore throat. So much for a flu shot. Salam

Dude Harlino at ICC.

My started off pretty badly. Waking up at 8. Class start at 8. There were no time to take a bath or pick clothes and put on lab coat. The practical didn't suck but some part of our teamwork dissapoint me a lot. A LOT! I mean i have to learn something! I am a bio sci undergrad for gad sakes. I neeed to faking learn something, not just doing it in a hurry. Yes, my mood is still deteriorating.

I said i need to move beyond this fractured line. Like someone said, it is not us who cracked this fractured line even deeper, so why bother. Little i know, wow i can move that fast ;p

I joined byl to ICC just now to see DUDE HARLINO. I mean i was practically over heels. I know i was a little girl in a hundreds of screaming mak ciks so i was very unnoticable. What is important is that that DUDE is more good looking in person. And i would like to thank Husrin because i am so short and he took all the pictures for me. And to BYL for updating his blog just for the sake of dude pictures.

DUDEEE!!!! Sigh. Senyum keangauan maseh.

Its not the others thing...its just the smile that mesmerised me. aik lanji. hahaha. Kesian Husrin melayan aku. Ada lagi ka yang cemani ani di dunia?

Husrin was on his toes ambil gambar. There were a lot of people. There was a question pasal what year was Zaskia born (owh yeah Zaskia and another handsome guywas also there- but i only want to see dude ) and a girl answered that. That girl got to be on stage begambar. Skali i realised it awal awal dh IT WAS SYLVIA!!! Husrin inda sadar bah! Capi bah sylvia ah!! Mula2 kami terjumpa ya kan ya cakap 'nada papa tu drg atu' sekali ya yang naik begambar sama si dude lagi tu!

Haha lepas tu jeles kan nya lagi aku tu! berabis jeles kan nya ah!! jeless ku berabis! Hahaha capi eh. Macam kalau aku in sylvia's place pengsan i dh tu. tak terkata. Awww. Syl, Byl and Pei fen also auditioned membaca berita. Byl and pandi had a karaoke competition deal and they did it. Amazing. Pei, pandi and i (not sure about husrin) got byls and nikki couple bracelet too. =p hahaha. Bylah is now officially ber poligami. =p We met a couple of peeps too.

Owh we also went into the ghost house and i don't like any horror things so the boys suggested me to take off my glasses and i followed that suggestion. =p Pandi tadi gila suggest macam2 wa masa masuk rumah hantu ah. One of our ideas was laughing the whole way which we did. =p ahaha

and we saw someone too. please lah dude (not dude harlino =p) stay straight please. Please. =p sigh. I need to be perempuan sejati more so that he won't divert too and be lelaki sejati. I just don't think that perempuan sejati needs to be good at cooking or bring tissues in their purse or even take care of their looks. Hmm. Maybe someday, i'll find someone who won't mind that i don't cook or do the things girls usually do =p ps- inda payah lena tidor ku, lena berabis sampai aku tertidor awal and miss the kul 8 malam session with the artis! Tidur ku inda sadar diri. when i woke up its 11pm. And i was sulking sebab inda liat ya lagi. haha (gila fangirl berabis.)

my mood are no where near good. I hope everything will turn out fine again. I am still seriously dissapointed with our performance in the practical just now. Especially mine. I just thought that at that rate, i didn't learn anything. so much for being a bio sci. But hmm thank god i found you all right. Atleast, there's something to take me off my dissapointment just now.Need to wake up early and volunteer esok. salam. ;)

Hmm i always get cuts and bruises over the funniest thing. And mum called it 'ya jua ganya' effect meaning...i am the only one who got all those. Its actually another term for 'clumsy'. But i am still not convinced i am clumsy. Haha in tv, they always show all the clumsy people fell down for funny reasons even when in stable grounds. So yeah i am still not convinced i am clumsy. (i scraped my skins again and that made me think,... sasak ku wah. i have a lot of scars already on my body just because of this)

Anyways i slept late yesterday and had to wake up early for our field trip. And as usual i almost fell. (ya jua ganya) We went to batu marang at 8+. We saw a lot of things in the mangrove grounds. I got into Dr C's group and i got distracted a lot of times by Dr DJM's voice and yeah i do find his voice sexy bah. that's why i only studied his lecture notes banar2. Haha i guess i should stop it. =p its very unprofessional kan hahaha. and we went back ubd at around 12. Changed clothes and ate in a rush and had math tutorial. Ngaleh ku banar time tutorial ah thank god sahlan regained a little energy and answered the questions. Before going home, I went to hokko to buy DMC threads for crossstitching. I have a new project. I'll upload it all when i am not busy okay. =) Went home... BALUM sempat mandi, aku TERTIDUR sampai 9 pm. I am so not fit. =( I hope i regained a little energy before our next trekking. Apparently, the almost the whole family signed up for trekking at Bujang Pahang, Kg Menunggol organised by my village association.

A PROFESSOR of Biodiversity with the Biology Department, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) has been awarded with the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak (Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak) which carries the "Dato" by the Sarawak Government.

Professor Hj Mohamed Abdul Majid received the honour during an investiture ceremony at the investiture ceremony in the Kuching on October 25 in conjunction with the 87th Birthday of the His Excellency Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Hj Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak.

Professor Hj Mohamed who hails from Bintulu, Sarawak, had authored numerous publications on South East Asian plants in international journals. Among his accomplishments was winning the prestigious Smithsonian Senior post doctoral Fellowship in 1990 and spent a year carrying out research in the Smithsonian Institution and Harvard University.

Prior to his appointment in UBD, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, a post he held for six years since 2000.He has held the posts of the Head of the Institute of Biological Sciences (1997-2000) and the Head of the Department of Botany (1993-1996).At present he is actively involved in research activities to highlight the unique biodiversity of Brunei to the world. Who said UBD has no good lecturers? =). 1990? Wow. he's been doing his thing for a long time. In 1990, i am barely one years old. he was a head department of botany? even better. I remember a not-so-long time ago i applied for botany kan but i have to turn botany in reading down for biosci in ubd (ahaha, kenangan silam =pp)

i think. He deserves this honour.

(i bet he deserves that dato title more than dato K deserves his dato seri title.)

Louis Mini Zoo.

I have ben to lots of zoos. and it made me sick of going to the zoo because all we see is the same animal. But yesterday, we had our field practical in Louis mini Zoo in Tutong (its offcially closed btw) and we had to observe the animals' features, the adaptation of these feature to their way of living or diet and their behaviour.

That alone made all my excursions to other zoos WORTHLESS. All i know when go to any zoo is to look at and take pictures of ourselves. i never really take time to appreciate the orang utans while they made some show in thailand a few years back ( i don't even know they were endangered.) I never really take time to read the sign board that says pheasant or take a look at the difference between a female and a male pheasant. I never really take time to count the ostrich's toes or observe the shape of its bill even when i got the opportunity to feed them.

Aha. Biology changes people. No i am still not into zoology as much as plant fascinates me but still, biology changes the way you look at things. =)

warning: ofcourse the animals are in small cages. but as dr charles said, so that people can study them, some animals need to be sacrifice ie put into a cage. This is all to make us aware of the things we need to do to protect them.

25-Sept-08- Biologist begila.

This was one of those days a lot of us were down. We went to lab early and cheer ourselves and each other up with pictures and nonsense jokes.
